Enough August already...

August has been SO full, along with Jaron's birthday (11th) pretty much the rest of my family has birthdays in August: Ashley, niece (7th) Jenni, sister (13th) Brigham, brother (17th). Javin's is on September 1st, so it might as well be in August. See picture below, if you forget who Javin is (I know its been a while, I'm a terrible blogger).

My best friend ever, Tara, just so happens to have some free time on her hands and likes to spend it with Javin and I. So, we took a hike up Donut Falls. It was GREAT and I really enjoyed myself, there's nothing like being outdoors with people who love you.

And last, but not least....we bought a duplex!! This lovely 1897 model comes complete with a non-insulated attic, a small pipe leak in the bathroom followed by a BIG pipe leak in the kitchen, a crumbling addition that the Historical Society won't let us tear down yet, creaky floors, a dungeon and Ronald McDonald paint. What have we gotten ourselves into?!! EKKK!!

But YAY! We're homeowners and have to be out of our apartment by the 26th.

Aunt Judy and Uncle Andy

My mom's sister, Judy, and her husband were it town from Louisana for a little bit and we all celebrated the holiday weekend together. We had a lovely BBQ at my sister's house in WVC and then we all made our way to the Spring Ballpark.



Javin LOVED Aunt Judy's sunvisor, he played with it for a solid 10 mintues (while on her head).

Then he moved down to Uncle Andy and had him doing "Ta-da!" for another 10 minutes. It was SO cute! Uncle Andy was such a good sport.

Javin was going strong late into the night, even through the fireworks. I think he liked them, but his facial expression never changed.

10 months down!

In celeberation of Javin turning 10 months we had a mini photo session outside. He did great until he stuck a dirt covered rock in his mouth. Dirt, yum.

More Please!!

YUM! I made the best pot of Red Beans & Rice the other night. This was my first attempt and in fact, I don't remember liking it so much as a kid - I'd pick out the meat chunks and eat those, Mmmm...sausage.

Anyway, I had a coupon for Hillshire Sausage so I thought I'd make some. My sister, Hollis, made it sometimes when I was younger and gave me some direction. I soaked the beans over night, then I added Tony's (the a Southern spice), slices of sausage & some chopped up onions I had leftover from making lasagna. I simmered it all for about 4-5 hours until the water got brown and thick from the beans.

The last hour I was suppose to start the rice steamer, but I wasn't home so Jaron made an attempt. He didn't put the water in the right part to boil, so an hour later the rice was still soaking in the 2:1 water to rice ratio. The poor thing, he tries so hard.

Another hour later and the rice was still a little chewy, but the red beans were DELISH! Way yummier than I remember. AND I think its better the next day, heated in the microwave. I'd give you some pictures of it, but it just looks like mush.

I can't get enough of this kid, he's so cute. He's SO close to crawling, he's got the rocking down like a pro (the arms need some help).


We didn't get the shades, but they looked really rad.

Yep, those are teeth - two to be accurate. Thank goodness he's not nursing now, he bites everything!!

He is such a good sleeper and is so happy when he wakes up, I'm so lucky to have such a fantastically good baby. I love you Javin!
